Certified Crane Operator – Remote Alaska Project

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Certified Crane Operator to join our team on a remote construction project in Alaska. The ideal candidate will have experience operating hydraulic and lattice boom cranes in heavy civil, marine, industrial, or commercial construction environments. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, equipment care, and teamwork while working in challenging weather and remote conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safely operate cranes to lift, move, position, and place materials and equipment.
Conduct daily equipment inspections and maintain accurate inspection records.
Interpret load charts and calculate load capacities.
Work closely with riggers, signal persons, supervisors, and project crews to ensure safe lifting operations.
Perform pre-lift planning and participate in daily safety meetings.
Monitor weather and site conditions that may impact crane operations.
Maintain equipment cleanliness and report maintenance concerns promptly. Assist with maintenance operations.
Follow all company policies, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Assist with other construction-related duties as needed.

Qualifications – Required

Current NCCCO Crane Operator Certification (or equivalent recognized certification).
Current physical evaluation by licensed medical provider.
Ability to pass a background check to access US Air Force Facilities.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Minimum 3 years of crane operating experience in construction, industrial, marine, or heavy civil projects.
Ability to read and interpret load charts and lift plans.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe lifting practices.
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Ability to work extended shifts and rotational schedules in remote Alaska.

Qualifications – Preferred

Experience working on marine, bridge, pile driving, or heavy civil construction projects.
Rigging and Signal Person certifications.
First Aid/CPR certification.
Experience operating rough terrain, crawler, or truck-mounted cranes.

Additional Requirements

Must be willing and eligible to join the applicable local union if not currently a member.
Must be able to meet all union membership requirements and maintain good standing throughout employment.
Must maintain compliance with all union work rules and requirements.
Willingness to travel and stay in company-provided lodging for project rotations.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to climb ladders and access crane cabs safely.
Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
