Director of Manufacturing (Attleboro, MA)

The Director of Manufacturing leads all production facilities, woodworking craftsman teams, and millwork operations. This role requires strong leadership to inspire skilled artisans while driving modern manufacturing efficiencies. You will own the entire production life cycle, from raw lumber intake to finished wood products. A critical focus of this role is mastering complex production scheduling to ensure projects ship on time, within budget, and to premium quality standards.

Role Responsibilities:

Strong Leadership: Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing culture among shop supervisors, CNC operators, and bench carpenters.
Master Scheduling: Create, optimize, and manage dynamic production schedules to maximize machine utilization and meet strict client deadlines.
Operational Excellence: Implement Lean manufacturing principles tailored to wood production to reduce material waste and optimize shop flow.
Capacity Planning: Balance labor, custom machinery, and raw lumber inventory to smoothly handle seasonal demand and large custom orders.
Quality & Craftsmanship: Maintain rigorous quality control standards to preserve the integrity, finish, and structural excellence of all wood products.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict OSHA compliance, dust mitigation protocols, and machine safeguarding across the entire shop floor.

Role Requirements:

Experience: 5+ years of manufacturing management experience, specifically within commercial millwork, cabinetry, or industrial woodworking.
Scheduling Expertise: Proven success using ERP/MRP systems or scheduling software to manage high-mix, variable-volume production runs.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of wood species, drying processes, CNC machinery, finish lines, and assembly methods.
Leadership Style: Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to bridge the gap between traditional craftsmanship and modern production metrics.
