Position Summary

A small residential building company is seeking a dependable, skilled carpenter who can perform rough carpentry, finish carpentry, punch list work, and material ordering coordination on new homes, additions, and remodeling projects. This role is suited for a well-rounded field carpenter who can work independently, communicate clearly, and manage day-to-day carpentry tasks from framing through final completion.

Key Responsibilities

Perform rough carpentry including layout, framing, blocking, sheathing, stair framing, and other structural wood work in accordance with plans, specifications, and local building codes.
Complete finish carpentry tasks including installation of interior and exterior trim, doors, hardware, shelving, built-ins, and other detail work with attention to fit and finish.
Handle punch list and closeout tasks including repairs, adjustments, corrections, touch-ups, and small completion items needed to bring projects to final completion.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, scopes of work, and field instructions to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
Measure, cut, assemble, and install building materials using standard hand tools and power tools while maintaining quality workmanship.
Perform basic material takeoffs from plans and field conditions for lumber, trim, hardware, and related carpentry materials.
Prepare material orders, confirm quantities, check availability and pricing with suppliers or lumberyards, and submit proposed orders to the owner for approval before purchase.
Coordinate delivery or pickup of approved materials to support project schedules and verify received materials for accuracy and condition.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site and protect finished work, adjacent surfaces, and client property.
Coordinate daily work with the owner, lead personnel, subcontractors, and inspectors as needed to keep projects moving.
Identify deficiencies, incomplete items, or foreseeable problems and communicate them promptly.
Assist with small service, callback, or warranty carpentry tasks when required.

Required Qualifications

3 to 5 or more years of residential carpentry experience with ability to perform both rough and finish carpentry.
Working knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, and job site safety practices.
Ability to read plans, perform layout, and complete work with limited supervision.
Experience using standard carpentry hand tools, power tools, saws, levels, and layout equipment.
Ability to lift heavy materials, work on ladders and scaffolding, and work indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to local job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience on additions, renovations, custom homes, and small residential projects.
Experience preparing takeoffs and building complete material order lists.
Experience working directly with lumberyards and suppliers to price and schedule orders with owner approval.
Ability to manage multiple small tasks efficiently during punch list and final completion phases.

Work Environment

This is a full-time field position working on residential construction sites, including possible occupied homes, remodels, additions, and new construction. Work may involve indoor and outdoor conditions, ladders, scaffolding, lifting, carrying materials, and travel between local job sites.

Compensation

Compensation is based on experience, capability, and ability to work independently across rough carpentry, finish carpentry, punch list work, and material coordination responsibilities.

Pay: $35.00 per hour
