Summary

The Cosmetic TIG Welder is responsible for producing high-quality, uniform, and aesthetically pleasing welds with minimal finishing required, primarily on stainless steel components. TIG welding is the primary focus, but MIG and other welding processes may be required. This role demands precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards.

We are hiring for for both first and second shift, based on your preference. Our 1st Shift runs Monday through Thursday from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and our 2nd Shift runs Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM, with a $3.00/hour shift differential for second shift. We also offer a sign-on bonus and health, dental, and vision benefits after 60 days of employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform TIG welding on stainless steel and other metals with an emphasis on cosmetic quality.
Occasionally perform MIG and other welding processes as needed.
Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols accurately.
Prepare and clean material surfaces for optimal weld quality, removing scale, slag, rust, and contaminants.
Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to specifications.
Configure welding machine settings according to material specifications and job requirements.
Perform open table setup, ensuring proper alignment and secure positioning of components before welding.
Position and clamp work pieces, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt assemblies as needed.
Inspect welds for bead size, penetration, and defects; measure work pieces for conformance to specifications and applicable quality standards (e.g., AWS D17.1).
Use grinders, polishers, and other finishing tools to achieve smooth, polished welds for cosmetic appearance.
Chip, clean, or grind excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand and power tools.
Tag material with job numbers and piece counts as required.
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.

Qualifications and/or Skills

2+ years of TIG welding experience (GTAW) required, preferably with stainless steel.
Ability to produce uniform, aesthetically pleasing welds with minimal finishing required.
Experience with MIG welding and other processes a plus.
Ability to read blueprints and understand weld symbols.
Knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and finishing processes.
Familiarity with quality standards and inspection processes (e.g., AWS D17.1).
Solid math and measurement skills (fractions, angles, calipers, micrometers).
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Physical Demands

Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and loud noise is common. Must follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
