Design Checker

Location: Fully Remote (U.S.)

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Design Checker to join its team. This role is responsible for reviewing mechanical drawing packages to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established drafting standards before release to manufacturing.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience working with SolidWorks, a strong understanding of GD&T, and a manufacturing background involving sheet metal, weldments, castings, or similar fabricated components.

Responsibilities

Review mechanical drawings and documentation packages for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company drafting standards.
Verify dimensions, tolerances, notes, bills of materials (BOMs), and overall drawing consistency.
Ensure compliance with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) standards.
Review assembly drawings, multiple configurations, and manufacturing documentation prior to release.
Clearly communicate required revisions and documentation updates to designers and other team members.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain drawing quality and documentation standards.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Qualifications

Minimum of 7 years of experience reviewing or creating manufacturing drawings.
Strong proficiency with SolidWorks.
Experience working with sheet metal, weldments, castings, machining, or other manufactured components.
Thorough knowledge of ASME Y14.5 (GD&T).
Experience reviewing assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation.
Strong understanding of common fabrication and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience performing tolerance analysis.
Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.

Additional Information

Fully remote position open to candidates anywhere within the United States.
Occasional travel for team meetings is welcomed but not required.
