Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Lead Welder/Fabricator to join our manufacturing team. This role requires a skilled professional capable of overseeing welding and fabrication projects, ensuring quality standards, and leading a team of technicians. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of welding techniques, fabrication processes, and construction site experience, with a strong emphasis on safety and precision. Duties
- Lead and supervise welding and fabrication operations on various projects, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine project requirements
- Perform MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), FCAW, and welding with precision, maintaining compliance with ASME codes & standards
- Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment such as pipe threading tools and sheet metal machinery
- Measure components using calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments to ensure accurate fabrication
- Manage fabrication tasks including ductwork, sheet metal work, assembly, machining, soldering, and rigging
- Oversee the use of cranes and forklifts for material handling on-site or in the shop environment
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, including proper rigging techniques and mechanical knowledge for heavy lifting
- Collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines and coordinate resources effectively
- Train and mentor junior team members in welding techniques, fabrication processes, and safety procedures
Experience
- Proven construction site experience with a strong background in welding and fabrication projects
- Extensive knowledge of MIG welding, TIG welding, FCAW processes, and specific welding standards
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Hands-on experience with power tools such as plasma cutters, press brakes, pipe threading machines, and other fabrication equipment
- Mechanical knowledge related to assembly, machining operations, ductwork fabrication, and pipe installation
- Ability to operate cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment safely in a manufacturing or construction environment
- Experience working under ASME codes & standards is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation
