We are looking for CNC Machinist Rockstars, for our 1st shift operations at our Saco, ME facility. This is a full time position 7am - 3:30pm Monday through Friday, we also offer a 980 shift which allows for every other Friday off.
Nikel Precision Group is a product centric machining company that regularly works with exotic aerospace and medical related alloys and materials. Using modern state of the art CNC machine tools, we serve diverse industries including Aerospace, Defense, Semiconductor, and Medical.
Duties:
- Perform Set Ups and operation of 5-Axis or Multitask (Mazak Integrex, Mori NTX, Nakamura MX, Okuma Multus) machines.
- Ability to use forethought and best machining practices to achieve optimal performance results within the allocated timeframe.
- Experience with tight tolerance aerospace / defense and NPI machining with the ability to hold tolerances of +/- .0002.”
- Must be able to maintain a 90% efficiency rate during set-up/operation, and scrap rate of less than 1%.
- Read and follow job router, set-up sheet and work instructions and provide feedback to improve processes.
- Maintain a positive attitude even during stressful situations.
- Measure and document as required inspection data to assure part compliance, utilizing mechanical methods, manual and automated CMMs.
- Read and interpret blueprint dimensions, symbols, and notes.
- Organize, clean, and maintain work area.
- Communicate with Engineering on issues, needs, and improvements.
- Build Fixtures to drawing requirements.
- Set up, Prove-out and optimize processes to minimize cycle-time and increase probability of success while communicating and working with other departments i.e.) Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Deburring/Finishing
- Train Machine Operators if/when job is turned over to production.
- Ability to work independently and identify issues, and problem solve in a productive timeframe.
- Maintains focus on process improvement and reduction of cycle times while maintaining quality.
- Ability to work required schedule.
Qualifications/skills:
- 10+ or more years setting up and operating CNC 3, 4, & 5 axis mills, turning centers and multi-axis machines
- Attention to detail
- Excellent knowledge of machine and controller functions
- Excellent knowledge of machine tolerances
- Commanding knowledge of GD&T and applications
- Excellent mechanical skills
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints
- Advanced mathematical and geometrical knowledge
- Good communicator, ability to listen, ask questions, and provide solutions
- Ability to work extra hours when needed

- Strong Work Ethic
- Familiarity with AS9100 Standards
- High school diploma / GED
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required stand for long periods of time, walk and reach. The ability to lift products and supplies, up to 40 pounds. May be subject to cutting fluids, lubricants, metal chips and moderate noises.
