CNC Programmer – Sheet Metal Fabrication
1st Shift working 4-10's Monday - Thursday with possible OT on Fridays (only for 4 hours) as needed
Position Summary Experienced CNC Programmer needed for laser cutting, turret punch, and CNC press brake operations. Office-based role focused on programming, process optimization, production support, and quoting/estimating input. Collaborate with shop operators, engineering, and estimating to ensure efficient, accurate, and cost-effective part production.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, optimize, and verify CNC programs for Mitsubishi laser, Trumpf punch, and press brake machines
- Develop efficient nesting strategies to maximize material use and reduce scrap
- Select tooling, parameters, bend sequences, and fixturing
- Provide accurate feeds/speeds, cycle times, tooling, and setup estimates for quoting
- Review prints/models for risks, special needs, and manufacturability improvements
- Troubleshoot programming, quality, and process issues on the floor
- Support operators during setup and runs; drive cycle time and process improvements
- Maintain program libraries and support lean/continuous improvement efforts
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years programming CNC laser, punch, and press brakes
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal processes, GD&T, blueprint reading, tooling, bend allowances, and nesting
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming/nesting (e.g., similar to common industry tools)
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical/programming/process issues
- Strong communication, detail orientation, and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fabrication quoting/estimating
- Knowledge of laser/punch tooling libraries and offline press brake programming
- Robotic welding, spot welding, or riveting process familiarity
- Lean manufacturing or mentoring experience
Work Environment Primarily office with regular production floor interaction. Standard hours; occasional overtime for support. Manufacturing setting (noise, machinery).
