The Crane Operator is responsible for operating cranes to lift, move, position, and place materials and equipment in designated locations. They operate a mechanical boom and cable equipment to lift and move materials, machines, or products in multiple directions.

Operate different types of cranes (e.g., mobile and bridge) to lift, move, and position loads as per project requirements.
Operates mobile crane on public roads to new locations.
Operates cranes to lift, move, and load machinery, equipment, and a variety of loose materials; moves pedals and levers to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement in response to signals from worker on floor.
Conduct pre-operation inspections of cranes to ensure functionality and safety.
Cleans and lubricates crane, and assists maintenance team during maintenance, troubleshooting or service evolutions.
Follow designated safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
Collaborate with site supervisors, test directors, riggers, and other crew members to plan and execute lifting operations.
Understand and interpret construction diagrams and blueprints to determine load specifications and movement.
Monitor load indicators and other equipment tools to maintain control over the load at all times.
Communicate effectively with ground personnel using hand signals, radios, or other equipment.
Operates crane during load testing and certification of crane.
Maintain accurate records of materials moved, operations performed, and equipment maintenance.
Portable handheld electronic devices shall be used in the performance of daily duties for purposes including but not limited to documenting work, timekeeping, and ordering materials where applicable.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on crane equipment as necessary.
Stay updated on industry regulations and advancements in crane operation technology.
This position may be subject to call-back availability based on operational needs.
All Other Duties/Projects as Assigned.

Qualifications:

Valid crane operator certification and relevant licenses (e.g. NCCCO, State licenses CDL).
At least 3-5 years’ direct experience working in crane operations.
Strong understanding of crane safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and operational manuals.
Excellent hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills with the capability to work well within a team.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Must be able to work at heights.

Security Requirements:

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain all applicable federal security clearances.
Required drug screening, physical, and background check.

Driving Requirements:

A valid state driver license is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by HMG’s insurance company.
