Job Overview:
The Lead Carpenter to oversees the execution of daily on-site construction activities. The ideal candidate must be reliable, motivated, and have a positive attitude. This position requires strong carpentry skills, leadership ability, and hands-on problem-solving abilities, serving as the primary on-site point of contact for framing, finish work, and coordination of trades. The Lead Carpenter works closely with the project manager, subcontractors, and clients to deliver homes that meet company standards for craftmanship and performance. This role oversees daily construction activities, ensures work is completed to plans and specifications, and maintains jobsite safety, quality, and efficiency. The typical project is ground up custom homes with the occasional spec house and occasional renovation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform all phases of carpentry including framing & sheathing, installation of doors & windows, siding & exterior trim, interior trim, & cabinetry installation.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to prepare work area and facilitate project layout.
- Independently do quantity takeoffs and work with the project manager to place material orders in advance of work.
- Plan & coordinate daily jobsite activities to keep projects on schedule, work efficiently, and be able to adapt to changes due to client, weather, or material delays.
- Supervise, mentor, and work alongside carpentry crew members of varying experience levels and assist in their career development.
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards, building codes, and client expectations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Ability to identify and solve construction challenges as they arise, communicate effectively – offering practical field solutions, and adapt & execute the work as needed.
- Daily communication with the project manager regarding on-site progress, material needs, and potential schedule impacts. Assist the project manager with punch lists, inspections, and project close-out.
- Demonstrate leadership in attitude, timeliness, effort, and quality of work.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· 5+ years of carpentry experience (Residential or Commercial).
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail is a must.
· Organization, time management, and the ability to delegate when needed are crucial.
· Demonstrate leadership in attitude, timeliness, effort, and personal appearance.
Position Type/Hours/Location:
This is a full-time position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 pm. This position may require extended hours and some weekend work as needed. Work is mostly in Rangeley and the surrounding communities.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to work on construction sites, including walking, standing, or climbing as required.
· Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments.

Salary Range:
· $35/hr. - $50/hr., depending on experience.
