Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair aircraft sheet metal components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and schematics.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and CAD models created with software like CATIA and AutoCAD to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly of airframe structures.
- Conduct root cause analysis on structural issues to determine underlying problems and implement effective corrective actions aligned with FAA regulations and AS9100 standards.
- Perform inspections utilizing coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and other precision instruments to verify dimensional accuracy and compliance with specifications.
- Assist in the maintenance of aircraft airframes by performing heavy lifting, equipment repair, welding, soldering, and electrical work involving avionics or electrical systems.
- Follow federal aviation regulations (FARs), military standards where applicable, and company policies during all maintenance activities.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking repairs, inspections, and compliance documentation.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on aircraft maintenance or sheet metal fabrication within the aviation or military sectors.
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, welding techniques (including soldering), and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Familiarity with CAD software like CATIA and AutoCAD for interpreting schematics and designing components.
- Knowledge of FAA regulations, AS9100 standards, and general aviation maintenance practices.
- Electrical experience related to avionics systems or vehicle/equipment electrical repairs is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during fabrication or assembly tasks.
- Experience working with CMMS platforms for maintenance tracking is preferred.
