LB Transportation Consulting is seeking a team of experienced electro-mechanical installers in the Boston metro area.
Two shifts available:
6 am to 2 pm
2 pm to 10 pm
Job Summary: The Electrical/Mechanical Installer for an MBTA Project is responsible for installing, maintaining, and upgrading electrical and mechanical systems on rail vehicles and infrastructure. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the MBTA’s transit fleet and facilities. The installer will work with a range of systems, including wiring, motors, control panels, HVAC, and mechanical assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, assemble, and wire electrical components and mechanical systems on MBTA rail vehicles and infrastructure according to engineering specifications and safety standards
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Conduct functional and safety tests to ensure proper installation
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve installation issues as they arise
- Document installation work, test results, and any modifications in compliance with MBTA and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to meet project deadlines
- Follow MBTA safety procedures and participate in ongoing safety training
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or apprenticeship in the electrical or mechanical field preferred
- Experience in electrical and/or mechanical installation, preferably in a rail or transportation environment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with hand and power tools, electrical testing equipment, and mechanical assembly tools
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as required by project schedules
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with MBTA or other transit authorities
- Certification in electrical or mechanical installation (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, HVAC certification)
- Knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations
Work Environment:
- Work on-site at MBTA facilities, rail yards, and in the field
- Work may be performed in various weather conditions and environments, including confined spaces and elevated areas
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times
Pay: $118,560.00 - $126,880.00 per year
Experience:
- Electro-mechanical installation: 5 years (Preferred)
