PURPOSE:
Install, maintain, repair, and rebuild all types of electronic equipment and electrical machinery throughout plant.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Receive job assignments from Foreman or Leader.
· Inspect, repair, and maintain electronic and electrical parts on machinery and equipment in plant.
a. Including die sinking machines, numerical control machines, magnaflux units, radio control cranes, welders, presses, laboratory and research equipment, P.A. systems, etc.
b. Study electrical and electronic drawings, manuals, and parts lists, analyze defective operation and make repairs including repair or replacement of parts.
c. Rewire or make alterations to electronic or electrical circuits to fit specific needs for machine or equipment operation.
· Operate various test instruments such as volt-ohm meters, signal generators, oscilloscope, etc., used in checking electronic and electrical equipment.
· Perform electronic and electrical work for installation of any kind of machinery or equipment, including press controls and data processing equipment.
· Maintain records of service and types of repairs made on various pieces of electronic and electrical machinery and equipment.
· Fabricate component and circuit network to update electronic and electrical components where parts are no longer available.
· Carry out preventive maintenance inspections on equipment as required, making minor repairs on spot, and listing work that should be performed to prevent breakdowns or improper operation.
· Rebuild electronic and electrical equipment such as electronic controller boards, radios, contactors, relays, and tape controls.
· Design and make parts for specific jobs.
· Perform required electrical and electronic work involved in the installation of new buildings and facilities or in the rebuilding, changing, and maintaining of existing facilities.
· Help instruct Electrician and Helpers as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING:
Requires more than two and one half and up to four years of on-the-job training or equivalent. Requires electronic school training, knowledge of electricity, ability to read electronic and electrical blueprints and wiring diagrams. Must be able to test circuit and use results to alter equipment performance where necessary. Keep abreast of new developments in field.
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Requires considerable initiative, judgment, and ingenuity.
· Works independently and devises own methods in a variety of complex repair and installation assignments.
· Frequent use of skills in repairs and installation of electronic and electrical equipment and facilities.
· High degree of finger dexterity.
· Uses variety of test equipment and electrician’s tools.
· Sometimes works in awkward position at hard-to-reach places.
· Some care to avoid damage to materials where cost would be small.
· Care required in operation of electronic and electrical testing equipment where repair costs would be significant.
· Must exercise considerable care in electronic and electrical inspection and repair work to avoid non-productive time for employees and equipment.
· Constant care and attention required in electronic and electrical work to avoid causing serious injury to others.
· Frequent physical effort required.
· May be required to climb and work anywhere in plant.
· Some jobs require visual attention.
· Has use of materials handling aids for heavy lifting.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND POSSIBLE HAZARDS:
- Constant use of hands and hand tools.
- Works in all areas of shop.
- Frequently works at heights such as on girders, cranes, or ladders.
- Some outside work.
- Exposed to heat, dirt, and noise.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.68 - $41.77 per hour
