Data center infrastructure company is seeking a Low Voltage Technician to support a large‑scale, data center project near Midland, TX. Hourly rate + per diem. 12-month contract but good chance for extension for another 2 years.
This is a hands‑on, documentation‑heavy role based in a jobsite trailer, collaborating with electrical, mechanical, network, and commissioning teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support installation and QA/QC of structured cabling systems, including fiber and copper infrastructure, racks, trays, pathways, and terminations.
- Review LV design drawings, cable schedules, routing diagrams, and device layouts.
- Coordinate with network engineers, electricians, and specialty contractors on connectivity, device placement, and redundancy planning.
- Assist with installation oversight of network switches, panels, patching, and fiber optic equipment.
- Track RFIs, submittals, change documents, and installation progress logs.
- Support testing, labeling, and validation of cabling and low‑voltage systems.
- Participate in commissioning preparation for low‑voltage components (network, BMS/controls, access, security).
- Work from a jobsite trailer supporting documentation, coordination, and field interface.
Required Qualifications
- 1–5+ years of experience in low‑voltage, structured cabling, telecommunications, network cabling, or MEP/mission‑critical environments.
- Understanding of fiber optics, copper cabling, rack elevations, pathways, patching, and cable labeling standards.
- Ability to read low‑voltage drawings: cable schedules, floor plans, rack elevations, routing diagrams.
- Familiarity with TIA standards for structured cabling (e.g., TIA‑942 for data centers).
- Strong communication and coordination abilities — comfort working with multiple trades.
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar software preferred.
- Low‑ego, team‑oriented, collaborative mindset.
Pay: $45.00 per hour
