Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Electrician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems across various settings, including commercial, industrial, and renovation projects. Your expertise will ensure that electrical work complies with all safety standards and electrical codes, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC). Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and renovation settings using hand tools and power tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to accurately execute wiring layouts and system configurations.
- Test electrical components and circuits using tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters to ensure proper operation.
- Work with low voltage systems, including security alarms, data wiring, and communication networks.
- Ensure all work adheres to NEC standards, local electrical codes, and safety regulations at all times.
- Collaborate with construction teams on site to coordinate electrical installations with framing carpentry and other trades.
- Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automation projects in industrial environments.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues before they escalate.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including logs of inspections, repairs, and system modifications.
- Assist in training apprentices or less experienced electricians when necessary to promote team growth.
Skills
- Extensive experience working as an industrial or commercial electrician with a strong understanding of electrical systems.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams for complex wiring projects.
- Knowledge of low voltage wiring systems as well as high voltage applications for industrial settings.
- Skilled in using hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers along with power tools like drills and saws.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in automation processes.
- Strong understanding of NEC standards and local electrical codes to ensure compliance.
- Ability to operate testing equipment including ohmmeters for troubleshooting purposes.
- Experience working on construction sites with a focus on safety protocols and hazard awareness.
- Handyman skills including frame carpentry or general renovation experience are a plus.
