Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Supervisor - Sheet Metal to lead our manufacturing team in fabricating high-quality sheet metal components. Duties
- Oversee daily sheet metal fabrication operations, ensuring production targets are met with precision and efficiency
- Supervise and coordinate activities involving CNC laser cutting, CNC programming, plasma cutting, press brake machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, and electrical discharge machining
- Lead and mentor team members in proper use of hand tools, measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers, and fabrication techniques
- Ensure adherence to blueprint specifications through quality inspection using micrometers, precision measuring instruments, and visual checks
- Manage tooling setup, maintenance, and calibration to optimize machining accuracy and safety
- Enforce safety protocols related to crane operation, forklift handling, welding procedures, and general shop safety standards
- Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to troubleshoot issues related to sheet metal fabrication and assembly processes
Requirements
- Proven experience supervising sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing teams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge of machining processes including CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, CNC programming, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, electrical discharge machining, and press brake operations
- Skilled in blueprint reading and interpreting GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications for precise fabrication
- Proficient with hand tools, tooling setup, calibration of precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
- Ability to operate or oversee the operation of forklifts and cranes safely
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to machining tolerances and material dimensions
- Knowledge of manufacturing safety standards including welding safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Excellent leadership abilities with strong communication skills to motivate team members and coordinate tasks effectively
