A growing skilled trades and facilities services company in the Portland, Maine area is expanding its service offerings and exploring the launch of a new fire suppression division.
The company already has an established commercial client base and long-standing relationships across property management, facilities management, commercial buildings, and related service industries. This new division will focus on fire suppression services, including installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair.

About the Role
We are looking for a Fire Suppression Sales Representative with direct experience selling into the fire protection, fire suppression, sprinkler, life safety, commercial building services, or related industries.
This is a true sales and business development role. The ideal candidate is not just a technical sales support person — they should be comfortable opening doors, building relationships, prospecting new accounts, and helping grow a new service line.
The right person should understand how to sell to property managers, facilities managers, building owners, contractors, and commercial decision-makers. Existing relationships in these spaces are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
● Sell fire suppression, fire protection, sprinkler system, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair services to commercial clients.
● Build and manage relationships with property managers, facilities managers, building owners, contractors, and commercial operators.
● Prospect new business opportunities across Maine and New Hampshire.
● Help identify recurring inspection/testing opportunities with commercial buildings.
● Leverage existing industry relationships to open doors and generate qualified opportunities.
● Work closely with technical staff to understand customer needs and recommend the right service solution.
● Support the early growth of a new fire suppression division.
● Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects and customers.
● Track activity, pipeline, and opportunities accurately.
● Represent the company professionally in the field.
Requirements
● Direct sales or business development experience in fire suppression, fire protection, fire sprinkler systems, life safety, commercial facilities services, or a closely related industry.
● Strong understanding of commercial building decision-makers, especially property managers and facilities managers.
● Ability to prospect, build pipeline, and develop new accounts.
● Experience selling services to commercial, industrial, property management, or facilities management clients.
● Comfortable working in a field-based sales role.
● Strong communication, follow-up, and relationship-building skills.
● Ability to work independently while helping build a new division.
● Valid driver’s license.
● Ability to travel locally across Maine and/or New Hampshire.
Strong Plus
● Existing relationships with property managers, facilities managers, contractors, building owners, or commercial fire protection buyers.
● Experience selling fire sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, commercial kitchen fire suppression systems, annual inspections, testing, service contracts, or repair work.
● Knowledge of NFPA standards, fire codes, inspection requirements, or fire protection terminology.
● Experience selling both project-based work and recurring service contracts.
● Background selling into commercial kitchens, apartment buildings, office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, retail properties, or industrial sites.
Compensation
Compensation is open based on experience and industry background. The structure is expected to include a base salary plus commission.
