Summary:
This position requires a good working knowledge of all aspects of the HVAC/R industry. It requires a good understanding of 3‐phase and single‐phase high voltage power including 460 volt, 208/230 volt and 120 volt power supplies, a good understanding of control systems and thorough knowledge of all components contained in HVAC/R equipment. This position requires continuing education to stay abreast of new technologies. This person must have a desire to learn and a great desire to solve technical problems that are elusive to the normal technician. Above all, this person must be able to read and understand wiring diagrams with the ability to determine sequence of operation from the diagram. This position requires some travel and nights away from home while traveling on business. Nights away per month – four to five. Interaction with customers face-to-face on site and troubleshooting over the phone, including some “on-call” after hours.
Job Description:
· Act as a field technical liaison between factory, quality, manufacturing, including the recognition of field reported product service issues and the development of appropriate remedies.
· Assist and support the sales growth of assigned territories by conducting site visits, ride-alongs, and other support.
· Provide technical support by phone and onsite to technicians who call for factory tech support of HVAC‐R products and accessories
· Provide field technical support as required with personal visit to sites to assist in troubleshooting problem jobs and customer complaint resolution
· Provide an avenue to resolve customer complaints in a timely, effective manner.
· Provide field start‐up assistance for equipment when specified and/or required.
· Provide call center support and job site technical support as necessary to fulfill customer needs.
· Work with product vendors to resolve issues that may arise with equipment.
· Provide financial review and disposition of warranty disputes and concessions, including monitoring of customer activity and development/implementation of warranty reduction efforts.
· Conduct technical training for our contractor customers and their technicians
o In classroom settings at branch and contractor locations in our region.
Requirements:
· Education and Technical Training in the HVAC/R fields
· 5 yrs. experience in the HVAC/R fields
· Experience with both commercial and residential heating and cooling systems
· Strong experience with applied equipment including Chillers, Custom Air Handlers, VRF, large rooftops
· Section 608 EPA Technician Certification
· Ability to travel throughout multiple territories and overnight, up to 50% during busy seasons
· Willingness to learn and also be a self-directed learner
· Valid driver’s license – Must meet insurance underwriting requirements.
· Positive attitude and strong customer service skills, including phone, in-person, and via email)
· Read and understand technical documents
· Proficient at reading and understanding wiring diagrams
· Basic computer competency, including email and Microsoft Office
· Detail-oriented and able to quickly adapt to the needs of customers and team
· Attitude of self-starter, go-getter, and lifelong learner
