Position Summary
The Pipefitter / Structural Fitter-Welder is responsible for the fabrication, fitting, welding, installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial piping systems and structural assemblies used in kiln systems and related equipment. This position requires the ability to interpret blueprints, operate fabrication and welding equipment, assemble components accurately, and maintain high safety and quality standards in a manufacturing and industrial environment.
The ideal candidate will possess strong pipefitting and welding experience with the capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Cross-training in both pipefitting and structural fabrication is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Pipefitter Responsibilities
- Operate pipe threading equipment for piping systems up to 4 inches in diameter.
- Fit, assemble, install, and weld natural gas and combustion air header piping systems.
- Perform MIG welding primarily, with occasional TIG and Stick welding as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings to ensure accurate layout and installation.
- Cut, thread, bevel, weld, and assemble piping components using appropriate tools and fabrication methods.
- Install pipes, fittings, valves, and related components to complete industrial piping systems.
- Conduct testing and inspections of piping systems to verify proper operation and leak-free performance.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain existing piping systems and components.
- Work in industrial, manufacturing, and construction environments while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
Structural Fitter-Welder Responsibilities
- Fabricate and fit structural members, plate assemblies, kiln side walls, roof panels, doors, and various subassemblies.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and layout specifications.
- Perform metal cutting, shaping, fitting, welding, and assembly operations.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, fabrication equipment, and lifting devices safely and efficiently.
- Operate or assist with CNC laser cutting equipment for processing plate materials (preferred).
- Assist with rigging and positioning of fabricated components as needed.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot fabrication and fit-up issues during assembly processes.
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and welding safety equipment.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or equipment immediately.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in industrial pipefitting, welding, or structural fabrication.
- Ability to operate pipe threading equipment and fabrication tools.
- Proficiency in MIG welding with basic TIG and Stick welding capabilities.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift, position, and handle heavy materials safely.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with natural gas piping systems.
- Structural steel fitting and fabrication experience.
- Experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment.
- Basic crane rigging knowledge and experience.
- AWS or ASME certifications are beneficial but not required.
- Cross-training in both pipefitting and structural fitting/welding.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.
- Ability to work in hot, noisy, dusty, and industrial environments.
- Ability to safely operate welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment.
