Job Summary
JMR Electric Group is a highly rated, customer-focused electrical contractor founded in 2016. We specialize in high-end residential electrical projects throughout the Greater Boston Area and maintain high standards for workmanship and professionalism.
We are seeking an Apprentice Electrician with at least 3 years of field experience who is serious about building a career in the electrical trade. This position is ideal for someone who already understands residential wiring fundamentals and wants to continue developing their skills while working alongside experienced, licensed electricians.
We invest in apprentices who are committed to becoming licensed electricians and growing long-term with our company. We are selective in our hiring and looking for someone who takes pride in their work and wants to be part of a professional team long-term.
Duties
- Assist licensed electricians on high-end residential projects and renovations
- Install wiring, receptacles, switches, lighting, and electrical equipment
- Assist with service upgrades, meter sockets, service entrances, and panel installations
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and properly
- Read and interpret electrical plans and diagrams
- Help troubleshoot and diagnose residential electrical issues
- Maintain clean and organized job sites
- Follow all safety standards and electrical code requirements
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of electrical field experience (Required)
- Must be actively enrolled in a Massachusetts-approved electrical apprentice program
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Solid understanding of residential electrical systems and installation methods
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have basic hand tools
- Strong work ethic and reliability
Skills
- Strong knowledge of hand tools and power tools used in residential electrical work
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, diagrams, and schematics
- Understanding of residential electrical systems and NEC requirements
- Familiarity with troubleshooting electrical circuits and using electrical testing equipment
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in occupied homes and residential job sites
- Strong attention to detail and pride in clean, professional work
- Good communication skills and professional interaction with homeowners and team members
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and advance in the electrical trade
- Ability to work independently appropriate to experience level
Schedule and Location
- Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Typical start time: 7:00 AM
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to work on ladders
- Ability to work in attics, basements, and tight spaces
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods
Growth Opportunity
This position offers a clear path toward becoming a licensed journeyman electrician. We provide hands-on experience in service upgrades, panel replacements, troubleshooting, and high-end residential installations. Tuition reimbursement is provided for qualified employees actively enrolled in electrical school.
This position is NOT a good fit for someone who:
- Is a 1st or 2nd year apprentice
- Is frequently late or unreliable
- Is not serious about becoming a licensed electrician
- Is not currently enrolled in electrical school
- Does not take pride in their work
- Is just looking for temporary employment
