Job Summary: Your Role
The Fabrication Assistant is an essential, hands-on role supporting the manufacturing team. You will be responsible for preparing and prepping all materials and components, such as aluminum, acrylic, and plastics, before they move to final assembly. This role requires mechanical aptitude, precision, and dedication to safety and quality in a high-volume production shop.
Core Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Fabrication Assistant will focus on providing direct material preparation and basic assembly support:

Material Preparation & Cutting:

Measure, cut, and stage sign materials (e.g., aluminum sheets, acrylic) using shop equipment (saws, shears, routers).

Perform surface prep, including cleaning, sanding, and deburring metal and plastic components.

Accurately apply vinyl graphics and films to sign faces and cabinets.

Assembly & Shop Support:

Perform light assembly, fastening components, and applying adhesives.

Assist lead fabricators with the basic installation and wiring of LED lighting components and power supplies.

Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, adhering strictly to all safety protocols.

Assist with the movement and organization of raw materials and finished components in the shop.

Quality Control:

Verify dimensions and specifications against work orders, ensuring components are accurate for the next production stage.

Operate a tape measure and shop tools safely and proficiently.
Experience & Qualifications
We are seeking a reliable and detail-focused individual with the following qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.

Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing, construction, or mechanical environment is highly preferred.

Technical Skills: Ability to accurately read a tape measure and proficiency with common hand tools and power tools.

Communication: Must be able to understand and follow both verbal and demonstrated technical instructions and safety procedures from supervisors and lead staff.

Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a reliable work ethic.
Physical and Workplace Demands

Must be able to frequently lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 pounds.

Required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for prolonged periods.

Comfortable working in an industrial shop setting with exposure to dust and noise. Must consistently use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
