Pay Range: $28/HR – $30/HR
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Assembler / Certified TIG Pipe Welder to support the assembly, installation, and welding of rotating equipment, including gas turbines and compressor packages. This role requires strong hands-on mechanical expertise, precision welding skills, and the ability to work independently in a manufacturing or overhaul shop environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assemble, install, inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical components and assemblies for gas turbines and compressor packages.
Fit, tack, and weld components in accordance with engineering drawings and welding standards.
Perform certified TIG (GTAW) pipe welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, and low-alloy materials.
Read and interpret complex drawings, blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions.
Perform mechanical alignments and precision parts installation.
Inspect components, verify dimensions, and correct fabrication or assembly issues as needed.
Stage equipment, inventory parts, and safely offload materials using proper lifting and rigging methods.
Work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality, Materials, and Production teams.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with all EHS and OSHA standards.
Accurately complete production, quality, and time documentation.
Travel up to 15% as required.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent relevant experience)
5+ years of experience in mechanical assembly of rotating equipment
Certified TIG (GTAW) pipe welder: ASME B31.3 Process Piping, P8 material, 6G position (must pass qualification test)
Experience in gas turbine and compressor assembly or overhaul
Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Experience working in a shop or manufacturing environment
Legally authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship required)
Willingness to comply with site safety and health requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with turbomachinery or compressor internals
Familiarity with development and interpretation of technical assembly instructions
Forklift / PIT certification
Overhead crane training
OSHA 10 certification
Experience working with stainless steel pipe welding in industrial applications
Physical & Work Requirements
Regular standing, bending, and use of hand and power tools.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts as needed.
Comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
