Job Overview
Homestead Sage is seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic with both service and installation experience to join our team and help us troubleshoot and install HVAC ductwork, systems, dehumidifiers, fresh air and bath fans . Homestead Sage specializes in Indoor Air Quality fixing issues at the source of commercial and residential buildings. Our jobs include addressing IAQ concerns, mold remediation, humidity issues, and energy efficiency problems. Our jobs require HVAC service and total replacements, including metal and flex ductwork, custom fabricated plenums and distribution boxes, high-performance variable speed/modulating systems of all types, whole-house dehumidifiers, ERV’s and fresh air systems, filtration systems, high-performance humidity sensing bath fans and ductwork, and large, targeted UV light systems. Experience solving problems with whole system service and installations is required. EPA refrigerant card required. Brazing and refrigerant systems experience is required. HVAC electrical experience is required. Experience servicing, installiing, programming and testing new high-performance hvac systems is required. ACCA manual J, D, and S, and NATE certification a plus.
Responsibilities
- Manage team of Installers/technicians
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems.
- Analyze humidity and indoor air quality issues
- Determine types and configurations of high-performance equipment needed to solve the problems
- Assist with the development of proposals
- Design, fabricate and install new equipment and ductwork to code, so it exceeds requirements for safety and energy efficiency.
- Demolish existing equipment in a safe manner, recovering refrigerant and preventing further contamination
- Pressure test new duct systems.
- Read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service during installations and service calls.
- Document all work performed accurately for record-keeping purposes
Skills
- The ability to go beyond problem identification and to follow through with problem solving.
- Previous experience in construction or as a service technician in HVAC/R.
- Knowledge of HVAC design principles and electrical/plumbing/gas.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair and maintenance.
- HVAC troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Variable speed, modulating, communicating HVAC system experience
- ERV and fresh air system experience
- Bath fan installation experience
- Commercial and residential ductwork installation experience
- Low voltage and high-voltage HVAC electrical experience
- Gas line connection experience
- Flue pipe installation experience
- Brazing experience
- EPA card
- Nate Certification a plus
- ACCA manual J, D, S
- Duct pressure testing
- Gas piping
- Experience working with chillers and boilers is a plus.
