Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Press Brake Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC press brake machines to accurately bend and shape sheet metal components according to detailed blueprints and specifications. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, precision measurement skills, and experience with various fabrication tools and techniques. Duties
- Set up and operate CNC press brake machines, ensuring precise bending of sheet metal parts in accordance with technical drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to determine proper machine settings and tooling requirements.
- Program CNC press brake machines using appropriate software to achieve desired angles, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Conduct routine inspections of finished parts utilizing calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance on press brake equipment, including tooling changes, calibration, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
- Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure proper tooling setup for various materials such as sheet metal and structural components.
- Assist with other manufacturing processes including CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe operations, welding, and stamping presses as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols involving cranes, hand tools, and electrical discharge machining equipment.
- Support quality inspection procedures by identifying defects or deviations from specifications during production runs.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing machining accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating CNC press brake machines in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of tooling setups, machining principles, and fabrication techniques.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting GD&T specifications.
- Familiarity with CNC programming software related to press brakes or similar machinery.
- Experience with other manufacturing equipment such as CNC laser cutters, plasma cutters, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, and electrical discharge machining is a plus.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and other quality inspection tools.
- Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions and tolerances.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to crane operation, hand tools usage, welding practices, and fabrication safety standards.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
