Our valued food manufacturing partner is looking for an experienced Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to join their growing maintenance team!
This opportunity is ideal for a skilled ammonia professional with hands-on experience maintaining industrial refrigeration systems in a food manufacturing, food processing, or cold storage environment.
What will you be responsible for as the Ammonia Refrigeration Technician?
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Maintain and repair compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, valves, motors, and related refrigeration equipment.
- Monitor ammonia systems supporting production lines, freezer storage, and refrigerated warehouse operations.
- Respond to refrigeration alarms, temperature fluctuations, and mechanical issues to minimize downtime and protect product quality.
- Conduct routine inspections and accurately document system readings, pressures, temperatures, and maintenance activities.
- Support plant-wide maintenance initiatives and collaborate with operations to ensure equipment reliability.
- Assist with equipment startups, shutdowns, rebuilds, and preventative maintenance projects.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, GMP, HACCP, PSM, and all food safety and ammonia safety regulations.
- Maintain safe work practices while working around ammonia systems and refrigerated environments.
Who qualifies for the Ammonia Refrigeration Technician role?
- Previous experience as an Ammonia Technician, Industrial Refrigeration Technician, or Maintenance Technician supporting industrial ammonia systems.
- Hands-on experience working with compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, valves, and refrigeration controls.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs and maintenance documentation.
- Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments.
- Current RETA Certification (CARO, CIRO, CRST, RAI, or equivalent) is required.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and food safety standards.
