A concrete finisher is a skilled construction professional who sets forms, pours, spreads, and smooths concrete for structural or decorative projects (like sidewalks, roads, and floors). They ensure durability and precise finishes using hand and power tools, and they constantly monitor weather conditions to ensure proper curing. [1, 2, 3]Core Responsibilities

Site Preparation: Aligning and setting wooden or metal forms, setting the grade, and compacting bases. [1, 2]
Pouring & Spreading: Directing concrete trucks, operating power vibrators to remove air pockets, and using rakes or shovels to distribute the concrete. [1, 2]
Smoothing & Leveling: Using hand-held screeds and floats to level the surface, bringing cement paste to the top. [1]
Texturing & Edging: Using groovers, edgers, and finishing machines to create non-slip textures (e.g., broom finish), shape corners, and mold expansion joints. [1, 2]
Curing & Sealing: Applying hardening compounds, curing blankets, or chemical sealers to protect the concrete. [1, 2]

Key Requirements & Skills

Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy lifting, stand for long periods, and frequently bend, kneel, or squat.
Tool Proficiency: Mastery of trowels, screeds, floats, power vibrators, and concrete saws.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret construction plans and accurately calculate angles, square footage, and concrete volume.
Math & Measuring: Ensuring the concrete achieves the exact required depth, pitch, and thickness.

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
