Position Summary
Allied Electrical Contractors is seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the successful execution of commercial electrical construction projects. The APM will work directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, General Contractors, Vendors, and Clients to assist with project coordination, procurement, scheduling, cost tracking, and documentation.
This position is ideal for someone with electrical construction experience who is looking to transition from the field into project management or continue developing a career in construction management.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with day-to-day project administration and coordination.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and closeout documents.
- Coordinate material procurement and delivery schedules.
- Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
- Monitor labor productivity and project progress.
- Attend project meetings and prepare meeting notes as required.
- Coordinate with field supervision to resolve project issues.
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and general contractors.
- Help maintain project schedules and milestone tracking.
- Support project billing, collections, and documentation efforts.
- Assist with project closeout activities, punch lists, and turnover packages.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of commercial electrical construction experience preferred.
- Field experience as an Electrician, Apprentice, Leadman, or Foreman is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and specifications.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Experience with project management software.
- Understanding of electrical estimating, scheduling, and job costing.
- Experience working on commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, or retail projects.
