Overview
We are seeking an Experienced Electrical Technician for our client based in Akron, Ohio. This role is hands-on and focuses on supporting the maintenance & operation of complex electrical systems across our facilities and client sites. You will utilize equipment ranging from in-plant distribution systems to high-voltage substation infrastructure to ensure reliability & safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative & corrective maintenance on electrical systems, equipment and components across facilities and client sites
- Operate, inspect, & maintain in-plant switchgear systems (low to medium-voltage distribution equipment)
- Support maintenance & operations of high-voltage substation equipment (transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, & related controls)
- Troubleshoot & implement corrective repairs of electrical faults and malfunctions
- Read & interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and technical manuals
- Strictly adhere to and enforce all electrical safety protocols (NFPA 70E arc flash requirements, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and OSHA standards)
- Ensure meticulous documentation of work performed & equipment records
- Accurately report & communicate findings to supervision
- Proactively communicate with operations & engineering teams during outages and equipment commissioning
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial or commercial electrical maintenance and operations
- Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification (or demonstrated equivalent field experience with verifiable credentials)
- Associate’s degree, technical diploma, or vocational certificate in electrical technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field (relevant military training considered)
- Working knowledge of in-plant switchgear systems (operation, switching procedures, & maintenance)
- Experience with high-voltage substation equipment (power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, protective relays, and battery/DC control systems)
- Ability to read and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment drawings with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving/troubleshooting skills
- Physical ability to work in industrial environments including confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions
Nice To Have
- Experience programming, troubleshooting, or maintaining PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms)
- Familiarity with local control devices (motor starters, VFDs, contactors, and relay logic panels)
- Instrumentation experience (pressure, temperature, flow, or level transmitters; calibration; 4–20mA and HART loops)
- Experience with SCADA systems or HMI interfaces in an industrial or utility environment
- Substation relay testing and commissioning experience
Compensation & Benefits
- $65,000 - $78,000 per year
