Welder and Fabricator

RAPID ENGINEERING • Full-time • Comstock Park, Michigan, United States • $22 - $24 / hour • 3m ago

SUMMARY:

The Welder fabricates custom industrial HVAC equipment. Using drawings, the Welder manually MIG welds structural components (tube and angle) to form a frame of each custom unit and 10 – 18 gauge sheet steel to complete the skin. Fabrication is the key element of this position, as the Welder builds a unit from the ground up using subcomponents from the previous step in the process given only the final drawing design from Engineering. There are no step-by-step instructions. The Welder figures out the order of fabrication for the pieces presented to him or her. A typical unit can be 5-10 feet tall and the same wide and long. It takes anywhere from 1 to 3 days to fabricate a unit. The detail steps of fabrication for our units will be taught to a new Welder, however, MIG welding experience is required.
