Position Summary
Cam-Ful Industries is seeking a motivated Service Apprentice to support our Service/Start-Up Coordinator with commercial HVAC service operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with foundational HVAC experience who is looking to grow their career in commercial service, start-up, troubleshooting, and project coordination.
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of HVAC field experience, understand HVAC systems and electrical diagnostics, and be eager to learn from experienced technicians while supporting daily service operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Service/Start-Up Coordinator with scheduling and coordinating commercial HVAC service calls.
- Support HVAC equipment start-ups and commissioning activities.
- Assist technicians with troubleshooting HVAC equipment.
- Read and interpret basic wiring diagrams and equipment documentation.
- Perform basic electrical testing using HVAC diagnostic tools.
- Communicate with technicians regarding job status, parts, and scheduling.
- Help track service documentation and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate material pickups and deliveries when needed.
- Learn manufacturer start-up procedures and service best practices.
- Maintain a professional attitude with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of HVAC experience (commercial preferred).
- Basic understanding of refrigeration cycle and HVAC system operation.
- Working knowledge of:
- Evaporators
- Condensers
- Compressors
- Expansion devices
- Air handlers
- Heat pumps
- Ability to safely use and understand:
- Clamp-on amp meter
- Ohmmeter
- Multimeter
- Temperature probes
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to identify HVAC components and their functions.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial HVAC experience.
- EPA Section 608 Certification.
- OSHA 10 Certification.
- Experience with rooftop units, split systems, package units, or VRF systems.
- Familiarity with HVAC controls and building automation systems is a plus.
