The Technician II – Mechanical Service is an experienced HVAC/R service technician responsible for independently performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing equipment issues, and completing repairs on commercial and industrial mechanical systems. Working primarily throughout Central Indiana, this position services a wide variety of HVAC/R equipment while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining the highest standards of safety and workmanship. Technician II employees are expected to work with minimal supervision, exercise sound technical judgment, and continue developing advanced troubleshooting skills on increasingly complex mechanical and refrigeration systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial and industrial HVAC/R equipment.

Independently troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control system issues to identify the root cause of equipment failures.

Service and repair boilers, chillers, refrigeration systems, air handling units, hydronic systems, make-up air units, temperature controls, heat pumps, paint booths, exhaust fans, and other commercial mechanical equipment.

Recommend repair solutions and replacement options based on equipment condition and customer needs.

Obtain vendor pricing and source materials required for repairs.

Prepare and submit accurate service reports, quotes, and work orders using the Service Field App.

Document equipment conditions, repair recommendations, labor, materials, and customer information accurately within the service management system.

Communicate professionally with customers regarding system performance, repair options, and preventative maintenance recommendations.

Coordinate daily activities with Dispatch and Service Support to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Assist with training and mentoring Technician I employees and apprentices as needed.

Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked company service vehicle.

Participate in the after-hours emergency on-call rotation.

Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and customer site safety requirements.

- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school education preferred.

Minimum two (2) years of commercial HVAC/R service experience required.

EPA Type II Refrigerant Certification required; Universal Certification preferred.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Working knowledge of commercial HVAC/R systems, refrigeration equipment, electrical systems, and mechanical controls.

Ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals.

Proficiency using multimeters, gauges, and common HVAC diagnostic equipment.

Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and customer service skills.

Must maintain a professional appearance and represent GEMCO positively at customer sites.

Must be available to participate in an after-hours emergency on-call rotation.
