Position Title: Experienced Welder/Fabricator

Business Unit: Structural Fabrication – 1st Shift

Location: Rockport, IN

Reports To: Shop Manager

As an Experienced Welder/Fabricator, you'll fabricate and weld structural steel components from blueprints, fabrication drawings, and specifications. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining NIX's quality and safety standards.

Our ideal candidate will:

Fabricate, fit, and weld structural steel components using MIG welding processes
Interpret structural drawings, fabrication prints, weld symbols, and work orders with minimal supervision
Lay out, fit, tack, and assemble structural steel to precise specifications
Produce high-quality welds that meet company and customer standards
Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements
Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, saws, ironworkers, and other fabrication equipment
Work efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity
Assist with mentoring less experienced team members when needed
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Participate in job-related training and continuously develop welding and fabrication skills
Follow all company safety policies and use required personal protective equipment
Contribute to team success by assisting with related duties as needed

Desired Qualifications

5+ years of structural welding and fabrication experience preferred
Strong MIG welding experience required
Ability to read and interpret structural blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and measuring tools
Experience fabricating structural steel, columns, beams, platforms, stairs, railings, or similar projects
Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and fabrication equipment
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
Dependable with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
