Responsibilities

Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, ventilation systems, and refrigeration equipment such as ammonia refrigeration systems.
Read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and building automation system (BAS) controls to accurately diagnose issues and implement solutions.
Conduct electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters to identify faults in wiring or components; repair or replace defective parts accordingly.
Utilize mechanical knowledge to repair or replace mechanical systems components, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards are met.
Maintain compliance with EPA regulations by handling refrigerants responsibly and performing required certifications; perform equipment repairs involving welding or other mechanical techniques as needed.
Collaborate with property maintenance teams to ensure all systems operate smoothly; assist with plumbing tasks related to HVAC/R systems when necessary.
Document all service activities thoroughly in logs and reports; communicate effectively with team members and clients about system status and recommended actions.

Skills

Proven construction experience with mechanical systems installation and repair in commercial or industrial settings.
Service technician experience specializing in HVAC/R systems including air conditioning, refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), boilers, and building automation systems.
Strong understanding of schematics, electrical diagnostics, plumbing, welding techniques, and mechanical systems repair.
Knowledge of HVAC design principles to optimize system performance; familiarity with HVAC/R equipment repair procedures.
Certification in EPA refrigerant handling; valid driver’s license for field service operations.
Mechanical knowledge encompassing boiler operation, appliance repair, property maintenance tasks, and general equipment troubleshooting.
Ability to operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters; experience with field service work involving complex mechanical or electrical repairs.
