Position Summary

MWI is seeking an experienced and safety-focused TIG Welder to join our team at the Rio Tinto Mine. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality TIG welding on a variety of materials while maintaining strict safety and quality standards in a mining environment. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Perform TIG welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and other alloys as required.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding procedures.
Prepare, fit, and assemble materials before welding.
Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
Operate welding equipment and related fabrication tools safely and efficiently.
Perform minor repairs and maintenance on welding equipment.
Follow all site safety regulations, company policies, and mining procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Work collaboratively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other trades to complete projects on schedule.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a TIG Welder in an industrial, mining, or heavy manufacturing environment.
Current welding certifications preferred.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
Strong understanding of welding techniques, metallurgy, and fabrication practices.
Knowledge of workplace safety standards and hazard awareness.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening, and site-specific requirements.
