HVAC Service Technician Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for residential and/or commercial customers. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service while ensuring all work meets industry standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and commercial HVAC systems.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and system inspections.
- Install HVAC equipment, components, thermostats, and related accessories.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related issues.
- Test system performance and verify proper operation after repairs.
- Explain repair options and maintenance recommendations to customers.
- Complete work orders, service reports, and required documentation accurately.
- Follow all safety procedures, local building codes, and company policies.
- Maintain service vehicle, tools, and inventory.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency service calls as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- HVAC certification or technical training preferred.
- EPA Section 608 Certification required.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of HVAC service experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, electrical components, and refrigeration cycles.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and on rooftops.
- Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to safely use hand and power tools.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with residential and commercial HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of heat pumps, furnaces, boilers, mini-split systems, and refrigeration equipment.
- Familiarity with smart thermostats and building automation systems.
- Strong communication and time-management skills.
