you'll start your career in the fire protection industry from the ground up. This is an entry-level position designed

to launch your career — you'll work alongside experienced technicians, learn multiple trades, and discover where

your skills and interests fit best.

We're looking for motivated, hard-working individuals who want to learn a skilled trade and build a long-term

career. No experience required — just a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and commitment to quality work.

Your Career Path at Snouffer's

This isn't just a job — it's the first step in a clear career progression:

Phase 1: Laborer (Starting Position)

Pay: $650/week take-home ($400/week taxed + $250/week per diem)

Duration: First 90 days

Focus: Learn the basics, work with multiple teams, discover your strengths

Phase 2: Apprentice (After 90 Days)

Pay: $700/week take-home ($450/week taxed + $250/week per diem)

$50/week raise after successful 90-day evaluation

Specialization: Enter one of our apprenticeship programs based on your skills and interests

Phase 3: Technician

Pay: $850/week take-home (similar to Lead Inspector level)

Role: Perform installations, inspections, and service independently

Phase 4: Lead Technician / Foreman

Pay: $1,200+/week take-home

Total Compensation & Benefits

Starting Pay: $33,800/year

Weekly breakdown (45 hours/week):

Taxed paycheck: $400/week ($20,800/year)

Travel per diem: $250/week ($13,000/year)

Total weekly: $650 (~$14.44/hour take-home)

After 90 days (Apprentice level):

Taxed paycheck: $450/week ($23,400/year)

Travel per diem: $250/week ($13,000/year)

Total weekly: $700 (~$15.56/hour take-home)

Per diem covers meals and incidentals during travel — non-taxed reimbursement

Health Insurance: Up to $200/month

We fully reimburse your individual health insurance premiums purchased through Healthcare.gov (up to

$200/month = $2,400/year value). You choose the plan that works for you; we cover the premium.

Eligibility: Available after 90 days. Can enroll during open enrollment or with qualifying life events (new job,

marriage, birth, loss of coverage).

Paid Time Off

Sick Leave (Available after 90 days):

5 days per year, front-loaded at start of eligibility

Unused sick days paid out at year-end on last check (1x rate)

Vacation Time (Available after 1 year):

Years 1-4: 5 days paid vacation per year

5+ years: 10 days paid vacation per year

Can carry up to 2 years of vacation time (capped at 2 years accrual)

Any excess over the 2-year cap paid out at year-end (1x rate)

Retirement Savings Program

$50/week employer contribution ($2,600/year) into money market account

Funds grow with interest over time

Vests after 10 years of continuous service

What You'll Do (First 90 Days)

During your first 90 days, you'll rotate through different teams and tasks to learn the fire protection trade

and discover where you excel. This is your opportunity to explore different specialties before committing to an

apprenticeship path.

Hands-On Learning & Support Work

Installation Support:

Assist installation crews on fire sprinkler, suppression, and alarm system projects

Carry materials, tools, and equipment to job sites

Help with pipe cutting, threading, and preparation

Learn to read blueprints and understand system layouts

Observe and assist experienced technicians on installations

Shop Work:

Service and maintain fire extinguishers under supervision

Organize tools, materials, and equipment

Prepare materials for upcoming jobs

Learn basic maintenance and testing procedures

Keep shop and vehicles clean and organized

Field Service Support:

Assist technicians on inspection and testing jobs

Learn about different fire protection systems (sprinklers, alarms, suppression, extinguishers)

Help with system testing and maintenance

Work in commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities

Gain exposure to all aspects of fire protection

Professional Development:

Work under direct supervision of experienced technicians and foremen

Ask questions and learn the "why" behind the work

Demonstrate reliability, work ethic, and willingness to learn

Show aptitude in areas that interest you

90-Day Evaluation

At the end of 90 days, we'll evaluate your:

Work ethic and reliability

Technical aptitude and learning ability

Safety awareness and professionalism

Interest and strengths in specific areas

Based on this evaluation, you'll either:

1. Advance to Apprentice and enter one of our specialized training programs

2. Continue as a general laborer if more development time is needed

3. Part ways if the role isn't a good fit

Apprenticeship Programs (After 90 Days)

Once you complete your 90-day evaluation successfully, you'll choose (or be recommended for) one of our five

apprenticeship tracks:

1. Suppression Technician

Install and service pre-engineered fire suppression systems (kitchen hoods, industrial systems, clean agents)

2. Sprinkler Technician

Install and service automatic fire sprinkler systems (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge)

3. Fire Alarm Technician

Install, program, and service fire alarm and detection systems

4. Commercial Hood Installation Technician

Install commercial kitchen exhaust hoods, ductwork, and ventilation systems

5. Testing & Inspection Technician

Perform code-required testing and inspections on all fire protection systems, plus service and maintain portable

fire extinguishers

Each apprenticeship includes:

Structured on-the-job training

Certification preparation and support

Regular pay increases as you gain skills

Clear path to Technician, then Lead/Foreman roles

What We're Looking For

Must Have:

18 years or older

High school diploma or GED

Valid driver's license with clean driving record

Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, and perform manual labor

Reliable transportation to report to shop/job sites

Strong work ethic — show up on time, ready to work

Willingness to learn — ask questions, take direction, improve every day

Team player — work well with others and contribute to crew success

Nice to Have (But Not Required):

Construction, mechanical, or electrical experience

Trade school or technical training

Military experience

Experience using hand and power tools

Basic understanding of blueprints or technical drawings

What Matters Most:

Attitude — positive, motivated, eager to learn

Reliability — consistent attendance and punctuality

Safety-minded — follow protocols and look out for yourself and others

Coachable — take feedback and apply it

Day-to-Day Realities

Work Location

Daily travel to job sites throughout the region

Work out of Clarksburg, WV or Middleport, OH locations

Most work is completed same-day with return home each evening

Overnight stays are rare but may occasionally be required

Physical Demands

Lift and carry up to 50+ lbs regularly (tools, materials, equipment)

Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working at heights

Work on scaffolding, lifts, and elevated platforms

Stand and walk for extended periods on job sites

Work in varied weather conditions and environments

Physically demanding work — this is a labor-intensive position

Must wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety protocols

Work Environment

You'll work on construction sites, in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, restaurants, hospitals, schools, and

warehouses. Expect to work around other trades, in occupied buildings, and in challenging conditions. Every day

is different — flexibility, physical stamina, and a positive attitude are essential.
