About the Position
Pike County Housing Authority is seeking a reliable, skilled, and hands‑on Maintenance Technician to assist with daily maintenance operations across our housing units and facilities. This role is ideal for the driven individual who takes pride in quality workmanship, communicates clearly and hands‑on repair work.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance across all PCHA properties
- Respond to work orders, tenant concerns, and emergency maintenance needs
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and equipment serviced
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and agency policies
- Conduct regular inspections of units, common areas, and grounds
- Assist with unit turnovers, including cleaning, painting, and repairs
- Manage inventory of tools, supplies, and materials
- Support capital improvement projects and long‑term maintenance planning
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in building maintenance, construction, or a related field
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general repair
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, and work in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in public housing, property management, or municipal maintenance
- HVAC certification or other trade licenses
- Experience with maintenance scheduling or work‑order systems
Work Schedule
Full‑time, Monday–Friday, with occasional after‑hours or emergency call‑outs as needed.
Compensation
This position starts at $18.00/hour pay rate along with a $6.29/hour fringe benefit rate. Fringe benefits are made up by company provided health/dental/vision/life insurance, STD, LTD, pension, and clothing allowance.
