Position Summary
The Panel Builder / Machine Wiring Electrician is responsible for assembling and wiring industrial control panels, installing electrical systems on custom automation equipment, and supporting machine installation activities. This position works closely with controls engineers and machine builders to ensure high-quality, reliable electrical systems are built according to design specifications.
Responsibilities
- Build industrial control panels according to electrical drawings and schematics.
- Perform panel layout, component mounting, wire routing, and termination of electrical components.
- Work with controls engineers and machine builders to wire custom automation equipment.
- Install and connect sensors, motors, drives, control devices, and associated electrical components.
- Route and secure wiring and cabling in a neat, organized, and professional manner.
- Verify wiring accuracy and perform electrical checkout activities.
- Troubleshoot wiring and electrical issues during machine assembly and testing.
- Review and interpret product manuals and technical documentation to ensure proper installation and wiring.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety procedures.
- Assist with machine installation, startup, and support activities at customer facilities as required.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 3 years of experience wiring industrial automation equipment or control panels.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Experience with industrial sensors, motors, drives, and control components.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred:
- Experience with UL 508A panel construction.
- Experience with machine installation and startup.
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled automation systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work around industrial equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
Travel
- Occasional travel may be required to support machine installation and startup at customer facilities.
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
