This role involves working on construction sites, fabrication shops, and manufacturing environments, ensuring the production of high-quality welded components that meet industry standards. The successful applicant will adhere strictly to safety protocols while delivering precision craftsmanship in metal fabrication projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG welding on a variety of metal materials, including sheet metal, ductwork, and structural components, following detailed blueprints and technical drawings.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to accurately execute fabrication tasks.
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math to ensure precise dimensions and tolerances.
- Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret technical schematics, ASME codes & standards, AWS standards, and engineering drawings to guide welding procedures.
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers and measuring instruments to verify weld integrity and adherence to specifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols related to welding operations, rigging, pipe threading, and machining.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly tasks, fabrication shop processes, and construction site projects involving metal materials.
- Support rigging operations and ensure proper handling of heavy components using forklifts or other lifting equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures diligently while working with gas metal arc welding (GMAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding, and FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding).
Skills
- Proven experience in construction site environments and fabrication shops involving metal materials.
- Proficiency in MIG welding techniques along with TIG and SMAW processes.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and mechanical blueprint interpretation.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise measurements.
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards as well as AWS standards for quality assurance.
- Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication processes including pipe threading, plasma cutting, press brake operation, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Ability to operate power tools such as grinders, drills, soldering equipment, and gas torches safely.
- Experience with rigging procedures for lifting heavy components securely on construction sites or within manufacturing facilities.
- Basic math skills necessary for shop calculations related to fabrication dimensions and tolerances.
