About the Role
The Plumbing Foreman is responsible for leading field crews and overseeing the installation, maintenance, testing, and completion of commercial plumbing systems on active construction projects. This position coordinates daily field activities, manpower, materials, tools, equipment, safety, quality control, and project documentation to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
The ideal candidate has extensive commercial plumbing experience, proven experience leading plumbing crews, and strong knowledge of plumbing codes, medical gas systems, project planning, material coordination, and commercial construction operations.
This is an In-Field position based in the Greater Phoenix area. Daily travel to active commercial construction projects is required.

Responsibilities
Lead and supervise plumbing crews on commercial construction projects.
Plan, assign, coordinate, and monitor daily work activities for journeymen, apprentices, and laborers.
Establish daily and weekly production goals in coordination with the Plumbing Superintendent and Project Manager.
Install and oversee the installation of commercial plumbing systems in accordance with project specifications and applicable codes.
Oversee the installation of domestic water, sanitary waste, storm drain, natural gas, medical gas, and specialty piping systems.
Coordinate the installation of plumbing fixtures, equipment, valves, pumps, and related mechanical systems.
Read and interpret architectural, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and contract drawings.
Read and interpret specifications, submittals, shop drawings, coordination drawings, and manufacturer requirements.
Perform and verify accurate field layout of plumbing systems according to approved project drawings.
Coordinate layout, sleeves, penetrations, hangers, and installation requirements with the CAD/VDC Department.
Coordinate plumbing activities with other trades to identify and resolve installation
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion of an accredited Plumbing Apprenticeship Program preferred.
Experience Required
Minimum six years of commercial plumbing experience.
Minimum two years of experience leading plumbing crews or serving in a Foreman, Lead, or equivalent field-leadership capacity preferred.
Demonstrated experience installing and supervising commercial plumbing systems.
Experience with medical gas systems preferred. Installers performing medical gas work must be certified in accordance with ANSI/ASSE Series 6000 standards.
Experience with labor planning, material coordination, short-interval scheduling, and jobsite documentation preferred.
Required Knowledge
Thorough understanding of commercial plumbing systems and installation practices.
Strong knowledge of the Uniform Plumbing Code and applicable federal, state, and local codes.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings.
Knowledge of medical gas installation requirements, materials, testing, and documentation.
Understanding of construction sequencing and coordination with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural systems.
Understanding of SMACNA standards as they relate to mechanical coordination and project requirements.
Knowledge of labor productivity, manpower forecasting, material planning, and field scheduling.
Familiarity with Requests for Information, change orders, inspections, testing, startup, and project closeout procedures.
Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
Ability to work independently while effectively leading and supporting a field crew.

Requirements
Required Certifications and Licenses
Current City of Phoenix Journeyman Plumbing License required.
Medical Gas certification in accordance with ANSI/ASSE Series 6000 standards preferred. (Certification is required for employees performing medical gas installation work)
OSHA 30 Certification required.
Current Forklift Certification preferred.
Current Scissor Lift Certification preferred.
Current Boom Lift Certification preferred.
Valid Arizona Driver’s License with an acceptable and insurable driving record required.
Required Skills
Ability to lead and coordinate commercial plumbing crews.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals.
Ability to independently lay out commercial plumbing systems.
Ability to develop short-term manpower, material, and equipment plans.
Experience installing and supervising commercial plumbing systems; MedGas installation experience preferred.
Ability to coordinate work with general contractors, inspectors, project leadership, and other trades.
Ability to track labor hours, productivity, materials, deliveries, and project progress.
Strong troubleshooting, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to conduct safety meetings and enforce jobsite safety requirements.
Ability to train and mentor journeymen, apprentices, and less-experienced employees.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
