We are seeking an experienced General Foreman to support multiple projects within our Energy, Electric Transmission, and Distribution group. The General Foreman will oversee field construction crews all over the state of Georgia, ensure safe and efficient work practices, and provide quality assurance across transmission, distribution, and substation construction activities. This role requires a strong focus on safety, field leadership, and coordination with construction managers, subcontractors, and utility stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and direct field crews on electrical transmission and distribution projects, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, construction drawings, and safety requirements.
- Support the Construction Manager by coordinating contractors on tactical construction activities, including safety walks, inspections, permitting, scope execution, and tool-box talks.
- Oversee and monitor construction schedules/micro-schedules, tracking daily and weekly milestones to ensure timely project execution.
- Maintain accurate project records including daily logs, personnel timecards, inspection reports, and material usage/tracking.
- Promote and enforce job site safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA, company safety programs, and utility-specific standards.
- Conduct and document quality inspections on construction activities, including installations, backfill, grounding, terminations, and system connections.
- Manage job site cleanliness, material deliveries, and recycling efforts.
- Host and participate in daily job briefings and safety meetings to ensure crew alignment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders—including owners, subcontractors, inspectors, and regulatory representatives—to resolve issues and maintain compliance.
- Provide field oversight for both overhead and underground transmission/distribution work, as well as substation construction and commissioning activities.
- Travel 30–50% to project sites for progress reporting, inspections, and stakeholder coordination.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering preferred (or equivalent field experience).
- 7+ years of relevant construction/utility experience, with direct experience in electrical transmission and distribution projects.
- Journeyman lineman, journeyman electrician, or equivalent utility/construction background strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of T&D construction methods, grounding practices, and commissioning procedures.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, F5 safety requirements, and industry utility practices.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage crews effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder interaction.
- Ability to work remotely with flexibility to travel extensively (up to 100%).
- Valid driver’s license required.
