PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Manual MIG/TIG Welder is responsible for operating and maintaining MIG/TIG welding equipment to fabricate and assemble metal structures and components. The role requires a high level of skill and attention to detail to ensure the quality and precision of welds, adhering to safety standards and production schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform MIG/TIG welding to assemble metal parts according to blueprints, layouts, and work orders.
Set up welding equipment, including selecting the appropriate settings for the materials being welded.
Maintain proper weld bead size and penetration to ensure the strength and appearance of the welds.
Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy.
Work closely with other welders, fabricators, and team members to coordinate tasks and meet production goals.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and engineers to resolve any issues or clarify instructions.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Conduct visual and measurement tests to ensure weld quality meets specifications.
Identify and repair any weld defects or discrepancies.
Document work performed and maintain accurate records of welding activities.
Adhere to all safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow company policies and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, and cutting to ensure proper fit and welding.
Maintain welding equipment, including performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting any issues.
Monitor and replace welding consumables, such as wire, gas, and tips.
Other duties assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficient with using a tape measure.
Ability to lift 50-70 pounds throughout the day.
Certification in MIG/TIG welding or a related field, preferred.
Comfortable using calipers and other quality tools.
Proficient using decimals and fractions daily with reading blue prints.
Knowledge of AWS Welding Symbols, preferred.
Proven experience as a MIG/TIG welder, with a strong understanding of welding techniques and materials.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform welding tasks for extended periods.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Extensive standing, recurring bending, reaching as well as moderate to heavy lifting.
Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
Continuous mental and/or visual attention to operate machine(s).
Must be able to lift 45 pounds at a time.
