Overview:
Our client is a private, for-profit company that owns and manages prisons, jails, and immigration detention facilities in the United States. This role is with the facilities team at CoreCivic's correctional facility in Eden, TX. You'll be responsible for all of the plumbing maintenance and repairs throughout the facility, so they're looking for someone who enjoys troubleshooting and can work independently. It isn't new construction—it's more focused on keeping everything up and running, handling service calls, preventative maintenance, and repairs as issues come up. You'll report to the Maintenance Supervisor and Assistant Maintenance Supervisor, who will assign your work each day. At a minimum, they're looking for someone with an Apprentice Plumber license, although Journeyman or Master licenses are definitely a plus. While your background investigation is being completed, you'll be escorted throughout the facility, but once that's cleared you'll have the ability to move around independently. Since it's a correctional facility, you'll also oversee inmates assigned to assist with maintenance work. You're not acting as a correctional officer, but you will supervise them while they're helping with plumbing projects throughout the day.
Required Skills:
- Commercial, industrial, or institutional plumbing experience.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, valves, drains, water heaters, and water supply systems.
- Ability to diagnose leaks, clogs, equipment failures, and other plumbing issues.
- Experience performing preventative maintenance and responding to emergency maintenance requests.
- Strong understanding of plumbing codes and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to pass a background check and facility security clearance.
Nice to Have:
- Journeyman or Master Plumber license.
- Experience working in correctional facilities, hospitals, manufacturing plants, schools, or other secure/institutional environments.
- Experience with commercial water heaters.
- Experience with backflow prevention systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
