The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in multi-axis programming, machining complex geometries, and working with large forgings and high-strength alloys to meet demanding specifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1 . Develop, optimize, and verify 5-axis CNC machining programs for vertical boring mills and horizontal boring mills, using industry-standard CAM software (e.g. Siemens NX and Mastercam).
2. Interpret complex engineering drawings, 3D models and blueprints to create efficient and accurate machining processes.
3. Select proper cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and workholding strategies for a variety of materials including titanium, Inconel, stainless steel and alloy steels.
4. Create and prove out programs, ensuring precision, safety and conformance to strict standards.
5. Collaborate with machinists, process engineers and quality inspectors to refine programs, reduce cycle times and improve repeatability.
6. Maintain and organize CNC program files, setup sheets and related documentation in compliance with IATAR, DOD and Industrial quality requirements.
7. Support continuous improvement initiatives in process efficiency, tool life optimization and machine utilization.
8. Troubleshoot machining and programming issues in real-time to minimize downtime.
9. Adhere to all ISO 9001 and DOD compliance standards related to manufacturing, documentation and traceability.
10. Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1 . Minimum 5 years of experience in CNC programming with at least 3 years on 5-axis machining centers.
2. Proficiency with CAM software such as Mastercam, Siemens NX or CATIA.
3. Strong understanding of G-code/M-code, machine control systems and coordinate systems.
4. Experience working with forgings, particularly large or complex geometries.
5. Familiarity with GD&T, precision tolerancing and surface finish requirements per MIL and ANSI standards.
6. Working knowledge of cutting tool technology, coolant strategies and material properties.
7. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, solid models and setup instructions
8. Excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
9. US Citizenship required due to defense-related work and ITAR compliance.
PREFERRED QALIFICATIONS:
1 . Associate degree or technical certification in CNC Programing, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering or adequate experience.
2. Experience with Faro laser inspection and inspection reports.
3. Use of verification software such as Vericut.
4. Prior experience in a DOD, aerospace, marine or other high-security manufacturing environment.
