Construction Manager - Fire Suppression (Mission Critical Data Centers)
Location: Northern Virginia
Compensation: $60-$65/hour (1099 Contractor)
Estimated Annualized Earnings: $150,000-$162,500+ based on a 50-hour workweek
Relocation Assistance: Up to $5,000 for qualified candidates relocating to the area
Duration: Long-term contract with strong potential for extension and/or conversion

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager - Fire Suppression to oversee fire protection, fire alarm, and life safety system projects within some of the nation's most sophisticated mission-critical data center environments.
This is a highly visible onsite leadership role responsible for coordinating subcontractors, driving safety and quality best practices, managing project execution, and ensuring compliance with all client, code, and operational requirements in live data center environments.

ResponsibilitiesConstruction Management & Project Execution
- Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for subcontractors and client representatives
- Coordinate daily construction activities and maintain schedule adherence
- Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and field execution efforts
- Track project progress and communicate risks, delays, and mitigation plans
- Prepare RFIs, support change orders, and maintain project documentation
Safety Leadership
- Enforce all OSHA, client, and site-specific safety requirements
- Manage hot work, fire system impairments, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and confined space activities
- Conduct safety inspections and audits
- Review subcontractor safety plans and ensure compliance
Fire Protection & Life Safety Systems
- Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities
- Manage stakeholder communication during system shutdowns and impairments
- Coordinate inspections with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards including:
- NFPA 13
- NFPA 25
- NFPA 72
- NFPA 2001
- IFC
- IBC
Quality & Documentation
- Monitor work quality and ensure adherence to approved procedures
- Assist with development and execution of Methods of Procedure (MOPs)
- Coordinate inspections, punch lists, and project closeout activities
- Provide weekly project progress updates
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of construction management, field engineering, or superintendent experience in:
- Data Centers
- Mission Critical Facilities
- Industrial Facilities
- Large Commercial Construction Projects
- Minimum 2 years managing fire suppression, fire alarm, or life safety system work
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, RFIs, change orders, and QA/QC processes
- Working knowledge of:
- Pre-action sprinkler systems
- Wet-pipe sprinkler systems
- Clean agent systems (FM-200, Novec 1230, etc.)
- Fire alarm and detection systems
- VESDA/aspirating smoke detection systems
- Fire pumps and standpipe systems
- Understanding of NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and life safety requirements
- Experience with Procore or similar construction management platforms
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior data center or mission critical construction experience
- Experience working in live operational facilities
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline
- NICET certification
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience supporting retrofits and upgrades in occupied facilities
Work Authorization
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
Pay: $150,000.00 - $163,000.00 per year
