Foreman
Reports to: Production Manager, Brockton Site
Company Overview
GTR Manufacturing is an industry-leading manufacturing company delivering single-source manufacturing solutions across New England. With three strategically located facilities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, we specialize in sheet metal fabrication, finishing, electromechanical assembly, CNC machining, and rapid prototyping. Operating as a build-to-order job shop, we serve OEMs in high-precision industries including medical devices, semiconductor, life sciences, and robotics
Position Summary
The Foreman leads daily sheet metal fabrication operations on the shop floor at our Brockton facility, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery across assigned work centers. This is a hands-on, floor-based role: the Foreman spends the large majority of the workday in the factory, leading the team, communicating production status, and pitching in alongside operators when workload demands it. The role also covers the daily transition from 1st to 2nd shift, so the Foreman can brief incoming supervision and maintain continuity of coverage on the floor. This role requires working Saturday mornings, typically twice per month, to support weekend production needs
Core Responsibilities
· Supervise and direct floor personnel, including daily work assignments and department coverage
· Set the standard for punctuality and work ethic on the floor; lead by example for attendance and hustle
· Oversee shift changeover, ensuring 2nd shift is properly staffed, briefed, and running before end of day
· Monitor job status against schedule; escalate delays or bottlenecks to the Production Manager in real time
· Enforce safety protocols and conduct routine safety checks on the floor
· Ensure work is performed to blueprint/spec and quality standards; coordinate with Quality on nonconformances
· Coach, train, and develop operators; onboard new hires on floor procedures and expectations
· Manage labor clocking compliance — ensure employees are clocked against the correct jobs/operations
· Coordinate with the Production Manager on material flow and staging to keep work centers fed
· Roll up sleeves and work alongside the team on the floor as needed to hit schedule
· Enforce attendance, conduct, and company policy on the floor; document and escalate issues per HR guidelines
· Support Epicor Kinetic transactions on the floor (job clocking, material issues, move tickets), plus general reporting and communication using MS Excel, Word, and email to coordinate with Sales, Quality, and other functions
Qualifications
· 3+ years supervisory experience in a precision manufacturing environment
· Sheet metal fabrication experience strongly preferred
· Moderate computer skills required (MS Excel, Word); familiarity with ERP systems (Epicor experience a plus)
· Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
· Ability to read blueprints and work orders
· Comfortable in a primarily floor-based role that also requires some computer/office work to interface with other GTR functions
· Willing and able to work through the shift changeover between 1st and 2nd shift
