Position Summary
Lumin8 Transportation Technologies is seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic systems supporting roadway and transportation infrastructure.
This is a hands-on field position working with a variety of roadside electrical and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), including:
- Traffic signal systems
- Traffic monitoring devices and sensors
- CCTV and traffic cameras
- Dynamic Message Signs (DMS)
- Communications and networking equipment
- Ruggedized computers and industrial controls
- Fiber-optic components
- Electrical panels, CT cabinets, and power supplies
- Audio/video systems
- Radio transmitters, receivers, and antennas
The ideal candidate has a strong electrical background, is comfortable troubleshooting complex systems in the field, and can safely work around active roadways and at elevated heights.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Follow all company, industry, OSHA, DOT, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Install power-supply wiring, electrical equipment, and conduit systems, including EMT, O-CAL, rigid conduit, MC cable, strut, and cable trays.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical panels, CT cabinets, power supplies, and related electrical systems.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot electrical components, transformers, wiring, circuits, and field equipment.
- Test electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, malfunctions, and required repairs or adjustments.
- Diagnose equipment failures and determine the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunctions.
- Replace defective components and wiring and make necessary mechanical adjustments.
- Align, adjust, test, and calibrate equipment according to manufacturer and project specifications.
- Analyze and interpret electrical and equipment test data.
- Use computers and software applications to access, test, monitor, and document site and equipment information.
- Communicate with equipment operators and other field personnel to identify equipment issues and determine the cause of failures.
- Maintain compliance with contractual requirements, safety procedures, DOT regulations, and company policies.
- Safely perform work at elevated heights using ladders, climbing systems, aerial lifts, and bucket trucks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education, Experience & Licensing
Required:
- Current Journeyman Electrician License
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant electrical experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical wiring diagrams, circuits, transformers, panels, and related components
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Windows operating systems, and commercial software applications
Preferred:
- Master Electrician License
- Associate degree or technical-school education in electrical technology or a related field
- Experience working with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
- Traffic signal or roadway electrical experience
- IMSA Signal Technician training/certification
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Successful candidates should be able to:
- Read, interpret, modify, and work from technical, operational, maintenance, and project-specific documentation.
- Troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems systematically and safely.
- Write technical reports and professional correspondence.
- Communicate technical information effectively with clients, supervisors, coworkers, and field personnel.
- Apply basic mathematical concepts, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Analyze problems and determine appropriate solutions in field environments where conditions may vary.
- Use computers, testing equipment, and software applications to diagnose and document equipment performance.
- Interpret instructions presented in written, verbal, diagram, schematic, or schedule format.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically active field position. Employees must be able to:
- Regularly stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and balance.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Safely use ladders, aerial lifts, bucket trucks, and approved climbing systems.
- Perform work at elevated heights as required by the project.
- Maintain the visual abilities necessary for electrical and field work, including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

Work Environment
This position primarily operates in an outdoor field environment supporting transportation infrastructure. Employees should be comfortable:
- Working near active roadways and traffic
- Working around moving mechanical equipment
- Working in varying weather conditions
- Working at elevated heights
- Being exposed to construction-site conditions, dust, fumes, noise, and other typical field hazards
- Working extended shifts when project requirements demand it
Workdays of approximately 6–12 hours may be required, depending on project schedules and operational needs.
