Licensed ACR Contractor — Commercial Refrigeration
Seal Tex | Dallas, TX | Full-time
About Us
Seal Tex is a Dallas-based commercial refrigeration and sheet metal company serving customers across Texas and Oklahoma. We specialize in walk-in cooler doors and seals, custom sheet metal fabrication, and commercial refrigeration service and repair.
About the Role
Commercial refrigeration repair is a new line of business for Seal Tex, and we're looking for a Licensed ACR Contractor to help us build it from the ground up in the Dallas area. This is a ground-floor opportunity: you'll serve as our qualifying TDLR license holder, work hands-on servicing commercial kitchens, grocery stores, and convenience stores, and build and lead the technician team as we grow. Early on, expect this role to be primarily hands-on fieldwork while we bring the team up; as we hire, your focus will shift toward leading and developing the technicians you help bring on board.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the named, licensed ACR Contractor of record for Seal Tex's Dallas location, ensuring all regulated work meets TDLR requirements
- Perform hands-on diagnosis and repair of commercial refrigeration systems — walk-in coolers/freezers, reach-in units, display cases, and ice machines — while the technician team is being built
- Help recruit, interview, and hire ACR-registered/certified technicians to grow the Dallas team
- Train, mentor, and supervise new technicians as they're brought on board, setting the standard for quality and safety
- Pull required city mechanical permits for installation and equipment replacement work and coordinate related inspections
- Ensure company compliance with ACR licensing, insurance, and continuing education requirements
- Recover, recycle, and handle refrigerant in compliance with EPA regulations
- Help shape processes, procedures, and standards for this new line of business as it scales
- Maintain accurate service and compliance records
Qualifications
- Active Texas TDLR Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (ACR) Contractor License (Class A preferred), or eligible to obtain one
- 5+ years of hands-on commercial refrigeration installation and repair experience
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required
- Comfortable working hands-on in the field day-to-day, especially in the early stages of building out the team
- Prior experience hiring, training, or mentoring technicians preferred — or a strong interest in growing into that role
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort building processes from scratch in a new line of business
- Strong working knowledge of TDLR licensing rules, local permitting, and EPA refrigerant handling requirements
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with customers, technicians, and local building/permitting officials
