About the Opportunity
UCP Staffing is immediately seeking experienced Electrical QA/QC Leads to support a major hyperscale data center project in the Des Moines, Iowa area.
This project is entering a critical phase of construction completion, testing, commissioning, punch-list resolution, and final turnover. We are looking for experienced journeyman electricians who understand what quality electrical installation should look like and can confidently inspect work, identify deficiencies, document issues, and work with field leadership to ensure installations meet project requirements.
This is not an entry-level QA/QC role. Candidates must have a strong electrical field background and be able to step onto an active data center project and immediately understand the work being performed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field QA/QC inspections of electrical installations throughout the project.
- Verify completed work against approved drawings, specifications, submittals, and project quality requirements.
- Inspect electrical systems and equipment including:
- Switchgear
- Busway and bus duct
- UPS systems
- Generators and backup power systems
- Transformers and panels
- Electrical distribution systems
- Conduit and raceway systems
- Grounding and bonding
- Equipment terminations
- Other mission-critical electrical infrastructure
- Identify installation deficiencies and create clear punch-list items.
- Track deficiencies through correction, reinspection, and final closeout.
- Work directly with electrical superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, commissioning teams, and project leadership.
- Verify corrective work has been completed properly before closing quality items.
- Assist with Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), quality documentation, turnover packages, and project closeout.
- Support the transition from construction completion into commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing.
- Document and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when work does not meet project requirements.
- Identify recurring quality issues and communicate trends to field leadership.
- Maintain accurate electronic QA/QC and inspection documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman-level electrician required.
- Minimum 5–7 years of commercial or industrial electrical field experience.
- Previous experience in electrical QA/QC, inspection, commissioning, supervision, or field leadership.
- Strong understanding of electrical installation standards and construction quality requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Electrical drawings
- One-line diagrams
- Specifications
- Submittals
- Equipment documentation
- MEP coordination drawings
- Ability to inspect completed electrical work and identify installation deficiencies.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work professionally with subcontractors and field leadership while holding teams accountable to quality expectations.
- Comfortable using digital construction or QA/QC tracking systems.
- Must be available to work on-site in the Des Moines, Iowa area for the full project duration.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience with any of the following is strongly preferred:
- Data center construction
- Mission-critical facilities
- Electrical commissioning
- Semiconductor facilities
- Industrial electrical projects
- Critical power systems
- Large-scale commercial electrical construction
- Electrical QA/QC or inspection
- Experience with Procore, Autodesk Build, BIM 360, Bluebeam, or similar construction management and QA/QC platforms is preferred but not required.
Compensation & Per Diem
- Hourly compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, licensing, and project requirements.
- Qualified traveling employees may be eligible for project per diem based on electrical licensing status:
- Up to $175/day per diem for qualifying electricians with applicable reciprocal licensing eligibility for Iowa.
- Up to $135/day per diem for qualifying electricians without reciprocal Iowa licensing.
- Final licensing and per diem eligibility will be confirmed during the qualification process.

Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for experienced electricians who know what good electrical work looks like and are comfortable being responsible for verifying it.
The right candidate will be technically strong, detail-oriented, organized, and willing to speak up when work does not meet project requirements. You should be comfortable walking the field, reviewing drawings, documenting deficiencies, communicating with electrical leadership, and following quality issues through final resolution.
Previous data center experience is highly preferred.
