Residential Journeyman Electrician:
Position Summary
The Residential Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing residential electrical systems in accordance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and company procedures. This position performs electrical work in residential homes, including new installations, renovations, service upgrades, troubleshooting, and repairs.
The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential electrical systems and components.
- Perform electrical installations for existing residential and commercial properties.
- Diagnose electrical problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Install and replace electrical panels, circuit breakers, wiring, outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
- Perform electrical service upgrades, circuit additions, and panel replacements.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable National Electrical Code (NEC), state, and local electrical codes.
- Identify potential electrical hazards and take appropriate corrective action.
- Conduct inspections and test electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding electrical issues, recommended repairs, and completed work.
- Provide professional customer service and represent the company positively while working in customers' homes.
- Accurately complete work orders, service documentation, and other required paperwork.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials in good working condition.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians, apprentices, and management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Valid Journeyman Electrician license or applicable state/local licensing credentials.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of residential electrical experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of residential electrical systems, wiring methods, and installation practices.
- Working knowledge of NEC requirements and applicable electrical codes.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues independently.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, basements, and other confined or physically demanding areas.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and electrical testing equipment.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
